Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Storms
Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, generating strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham - 179 calls for assistance
During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28k power users in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
